Season Two’s premier was highly anticipated, because of the shocking season finale that left all fans of Ugly Betty sitting on the edge of their seats - was Santos dead? What happens to Alexis and Daniel? … and what I was waiting for… was Henry going to come back to Betty?
At TV Squad they’ve got a great recap of the season opener, “How Betty got her Grieve back”. So as we know Betty is back! Last season ended on a sad note, and the season opener let the cast of characters confront their problems and look ahead to the future. This episode was all about letting the past go and starting fresh.
To read the full article over at TV Squad - I highly recommend it, a great way to get a recap of the episode… which is great for me - because I missed it! (I’m still mad about that!).
Here are some exerpts of what they had to say about the first episode:
Let’s start with our girl, Betty, who is now the heroine of two shows: Ugly Betty and Las Pasiones de Betty. I thought the dream telenovela was pretty funny, especially the part where a very pregnant Charlie was shown smoking, drinking, and packing heat. Betty still had a lot of unresolved feelings about Henry’s departure, and it was starting to show at both work and home. The Suarez house was a mess, and Betty was injured in the line of duty at Mode. She even had high blood pressure, at her age! When Famine starts offering you food, you know you’ve hit bottom, and it didn’t take Betty long to realize that.
… now this is my favourite part! I love the whole Henry and Betty storyline. They just seem so suited to each other. They’re so close to making it a real deal… but there’s always SOMETHING… which keeps us watching hoping that they’ll get together.
Just as Betty was owning up to her feelings of disappointment and burying all of her Henry mementos (including some paper clips he gave her once), guess who turned up in New York? Everyone’s favorite accountant is back! I’m curious to hear how things ended between Henry and Charlie. Did she ‘fess up about cheating on him, or did Henry leave Charlie on his own? I’m sure there will be all sorts of new obstacles in the Henry-Betty relationship (the show is part soap, after all), but the hope for a new start is there.
There is a lot more that happened in this episode - so be sure to check out what TV Squad has to say about it.
